DESCRIPTION A Rose Bowl retained for Twelve Months – Framed certificate to keep.
REQUIREMENT The Best Illuminated Boat using a generator.
CRITERIA To the owner of the best illuminated boat using a generator taking part in a procession of boats late one evening during the Festival.
If the available length of water is insufficient for a procession the boats will instead be illuminated 30 minutes where moored.
Attention will be given to the following: -
a) Artistic design and ingenuity of the illuminations.
b) Originality.
c) Overall visual effect – (The WOW factor).
d) Amount of audience applause.
SCORING Each judge will appoint scores out of 10 for each section and note these on his/her official recording form. Scores will be added and the highest scoring entry will win.
ELIGIBLE Any trailboater participating in the Festival.

TITLE OF AWARD The Ashby Canal Trust Shield.
DESCRIPTION Engraved shield on a wooden mounting – Framed certificate to keep.

TITLE OF AWARD The Grand Western Award.
DESCRIPTION Antique Silver Colour Metal Swan – Framed certificate to keep.
REQUIREMENT Lady’s Boat Handling. (Same course as the men).
CRITERIA To the female trailboater able to carry out within 10 minutes the best boat manoeuvres and these will depend on the available water space. The Festival Awards Officer will agree the practical test.
The manoeuvres can include spectator interests content such as transporting a very large but light & waterproof parcel, fetching and finding specific items, or a similar requirement, but must include: -
a) Casting off from a designated mooring point on time.
b) Turning the boat by means of a three point turn.
c) Manoeuvring correctly between fixed Port & Starboard buoys arranged as a chicane.
d) Going astern between buoys.
e) Mooring up at a designated mooring point on time.
SCORING Each judge will appoint scores out of 10 for each section and note these on his/her official recording form. Scores will be added and the highest scoring entry will win.
ELIGIBLE Any female trailboater participating in the Festival (One female entrant per boat).

DESCRIPTION A Silver Cup retained for Twelve Months – Framed certificate to keep.
REQUIREMENT Men’s Boat Handling. (Same course as the ladies).
CRITERIA To the male trailboater able to carry out in 10 minutes the best boat manoeuvres and these will depend on the available water space.
The Festival Awards Officer will agree the practical test.

TITLE OF AWARD The Pewesy Wharf Boat Club Trophy.
DESCRIPTION A Silver Cup retained for Twelve Months – Framed certificate to keep.
REQUIREMENT The Best Fitted Out boat attending the Festival.
CRITERIA Judges will be looking for good craftsmanship, a wide variety of useful features, a very pleasing well co-ordinated interior and exterior and a high standard of decoration finish.
Attention will be paid to the following: -
a) A comfortable interior, pleasing layout and multiple function features.
b) Practicality and quality of the features and their ease of use.
c) How many eco friendly features are built into the boat.
d) Amount of amateur practical work that the owner has done.

TITLE OF AWARD The Grace Bell.
DESCRIPTION An ‘L’ shaped thick wood mounting with an anchor design brass bracket, award title, and requirement inscriptions, on the inside of the upright. The bracket supports a 60 mm dia brass bell with chain & clapper. Winner’s plaques on the base of the mounting. Retained for Twelve Months – Framed certificate to keep.
REQUIREMENT The Best Story Board/s displayed on or by a boat at the Festival.
Information should be concise but be varied, it must be interesting for all ages to read and have a good presentation.
Attention will be given to the following: -
CRITERIA a) Statistical details and the boat’s history.
b) Descriptions of Improvements made and the boat’s best features.
c) Details of the current boat usage & most adventurous trip.
d) Must be easily readable by the judges from a distance of 1 mtr.

TITLE OF AWARD The John Heap Rose Bowl. (IWA Chairman 1973-1981).
DESCRIPTION A Rose Bowl retained for Twelve Months – Framed Certificate to keep.
REQUIREMENT The most Enterprising and Meritorious trailboat cruising.
CRITERIA The boater must have accomplished this in Europe during the past 12 months. Evidence to be submitted in the form of a detailed log or written paper no longer than one side of A4; to the Festival Awards Officer. Maps & photos may be added.
Attention will be given to the following: -
a) Dates and variety of waterways visited.
b) Number of miles travelled & locks navigated on each waterway.
c) Difficulties on journeys successfully overcome.
d) Novel or unusual details and any favourable press publicity.
SCORING Each judge will appoint scores out of 10 for each section and note these on his/her official recording form. Scores will be added and the highest scoring entry will win.
ELIGIBLE Any trailboater participating in the Festival. (One entry per boat).

TITLE OF AWARD The John Ogley Cup.
DESCRIPTION A Cup retained for Twelve Months – Framed Certificate to keep.
REQUIREMENT The boat earning the highest number of Journey Points.
CRITERIA To the owner of the boat that has been towed on a trailer the longest distance to the Festival relative to the length of the boat.
The route travelled must be in England or Wales and the shortest practical distance between the normal parking or mooring point and the Festival Site.
SCORING Since there is a cost or physical penalty to trail a larger boat, the distance travelled should be multiplied by the length of the boat in feet. ie: -
A boat 15ft long trailed 200 miles would attract 3,000 points.
A boat 18ft long trailed 180 miles would attract 3,240 points.
Scores will be noted on the official recording form and the highest scoring entry will win.
ELIGIBLE Any Trailboater having trailed their boat to the Festival.
