Mayenne slipway
The pretty town of Mayenne, at the head of navigation of the Mayenne river in the Mayenne region of France, is a great place to start your cruise of the pretty Mayenne and Sarthe rivers. These rivers, similar to those in Brittany, are free of licence payment. This slipway is also free to use. The quay has plenty of moorings but they now have a tourist boat that operates from there. The facilities of the town are close by. Large supermarkets with petrol available on the edge of town, on the main road but take your car as its a bit of a walk.
Parking for cars and trailers has, in the past, been obtained on the town’s municipal campsite a short cycle distance from the town. This was arranged through the town’s Tourist Information office which is located in a modern building alongside the river. This also has, shower, loo dump and fresh water available at quay level.
The slipway allows plenty of manouvering space at the top, but requires ropes to hold the boat from over the wall, at the pavement level, as there is nowhere to tie up. You will probably require legs to get wet or high waist waders to be used, to be able to get the boat off or on to the trailer and to be able to drop/lift/slide the engine. See the pictures below:
