Luzech , Upper Lot
Information and pictures provided by Thomas Loos , you can read his blog here
The slipway at Luzech is not the easiest to use, but still the best on this isolated river navigation. Located on the D9 about 500m north of Luzech. The slipway is almost parallel to this main road and there is no space to turn. So it is important to arrive from the Luzech direction to be able to reverse into the slipway. Arriving from Cahor you can go past the slipway and use the roundabout at Luzech to turn. The slipway is quiet long and step. But also it might look daunting, when pulling with a 4×4 there is no real problem. Though you might need to get your feet wet when retrieving.
Use of the slipway is free.
Secure parking is available from the Canalous hire base next door (tel.: 05.65.22.21.91). We paid 20€/week at their padlocked compound.Failing that, there is also a campsite about one km away. Water is available at the base, but not much else.
Luzech itself is a nice village with several bars and restaurants and small SPAR supermarket with a filling station.
