Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd June . Welshpool Transport Festival

Derek Smith has advised that the town planning team for the Welshpool Transport Festival are hoping that perhaps some trailable boats may like to come along to enhance the event as – “the public always like to look at boats”.   There will be lots of transport related exhibits and events to enjoy, and about 12 miles of isolated Montgomery Canal to explore either before or after the festival.   You will need a C&RT licence, but there is a free to use good slipway; and water & Elsan disposal facilities at the town basin; and I’ll send full details of these if you want to see them.

The date is 22nd and 23rd June and free parking is available one mile north of the town basin at Grungrog Farm.   It’s a walkable distance but lifts back to basin may be available. If anyone wants to go please contact Derek Smith (contact details on WBOC members list) and he’ll submit your contact info to the organisers.

Saturday 31st August – Sunday 1st September > Melksham Food & River Festival
Wilts & Berks Canal Trust’s Food & River Festival has been developing over the last few years and now has it’s own website .

This year, you can even book your boat in for the Festival via the web site. There are a limited number of pontoons for steam boats and those who need special access the bank. So early bookings, with your comments, would help the organisers ensure we provide you with the best possible opportunity to have a really enjoyable weekend. The Festival team are working hard to improve the Festival year on year and would love you to be part of it.
