29th /30th June Chesterfield Canal Festival at Staveley Town Basin (S43 3XZ). Details available here.
The Festival will be free for boaters but a one week licence from Derbyshire County Council (which owns the canal) costs £20. As it is on the isolated western stretch of the canal, it will essentially be a trailboat festival, but there will be the possibility of craning larger boats into the water. The new basin slipway is good and wide.
We will have all three of our tripboats in action. There will be an entertainment marquee, children’s rides, canoeing, miniature railway rides, Segway Rides, dozens of stalls and of course lots of food and drink including a Real Ale bar. Barrow Hill Roundhouse (a mile away) will be running a Family Steam Day.
